How to set up Java and Bedrock crossplay

To let Bedrock players join a Java server, use Geyser. If you want Bedrock players to join without a premium Java account, add Floodgate as well.

What you need

  • A Paper or Purpur server
  • One additional UDP port for Bedrock
  • The Geyser plugin and, if needed, Floodgate

Quick steps

  1. Upload Geyser-Spigot.jar to the plugins folder.
  2. Upload Floodgate-Spigot.jar if you need it.
  3. Restart the server.
  4. Set the Bedrock port in plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml.
  5. Restart the server again.

Important configuration

Make sure:

  • bedrock.port uses the additional Bedrock port
  • remote.port uses the main Java port
  • auth-type matches the mode you are using, for example floodgate if Floodgate is installed
