How to change difficulty on a Bedrock server

On a Bedrock dedicated server, difficulty is set via a Startup variable in the panel, not via a command or config file the way Java does.

Steps

  1. Open https://panel.nexuscloud.id/.
  2. Select your Bedrock server.
  3. Open the hamburger menu (the three-line icon) or the = icon if you are on mobile.
  4. Scroll down and look for the Startup section.
  5. Click Startup, then look for the Difficulty variable.
  6. Change the value to what you want.
  7. Once saved, go to Console and Restart the server.
  8. The server's difficulty has been changed.

Difficulty options

Value Meaning
peaceful No hostile mobs.
easy Weaker hostile mobs.
normal The default setting.
hard Stronger mobs and hunger can kill.

Notes

  • Bedrock servers use the difficulty variable name from the NexusCloud egg's Startup menu, not the difficulty command in the console.
  • After changing it, restart the server so the new value is applied to all players.
