How to fix the outdated version error on a Bedrock server

The message "The host you are trying to join using an older version of Minecraft. Try again when the host has updated its version. Unable to connect" usually appears when the Bedrock server version no longer matches the client. The cleanest way to fix this on a vanilla Bedrock server is to reinstall.

Steps

  1. Go to the Files menu, then delete the behavior_packs and resource_packs folders if they exist.
  2. Go to the Startup menu, then change Bedrock version to the version you want, for example the latest Minecraft Bedrock version 1.26.20.5.
  3. Go to the Settings menu, then Reinstall your server.
  4. Go back to the Console menu, then Start the server.
  5. Try to join again from the Minecraft Bedrock client.
